The Beginning

Members of 4-Play were influenced by listening to music played by their parents or at family party functions. This inspired them to collect music and play at private functions as well as part of a sound system. 

 

The early to mid 1980's

As a youngster Angel4Play played at house parties and organised school dances. Dave B played solo at private parties and as part of a sound system. Senator4play also played at private parties and Major Lea played with a group of friends called Rags Fraternity at private functions. Baby M built up a collection of music over the years.

 

Angel4play and Baby M went on to join forces and formed the sound Trick and Treat with Dave B joining them in 1989. In 1990 Major4play played at various events with Trick and Treat which led to the birth of 4-PLAY sound. Senator4Play joined in 1994 and added his MC abilities well as his DJ skills to complete the 4-PLAY sound.

 

4-PLAY has built up a reputation as a 'Party Sound' that plays a broad range of music in keeping with ever changing trends. Their sets include R n B, Rare Grooves, Jazz-Funk, Old Skool, Jungle, Funky House, Reggae, Ragga, Dancehall and Revival music. DJ's from 4-PLAY have also played on various community radio stations over the years including stationfm. an online radio station.

Notting Hill Carnival

4-Play first entertained at the Notting Hill Carnival in 1994.

 

From humble beginnings in the early years 4-Play has built up a strong following and good party crowd, now established at the same location over the years has built a strong foundation and have expanded their site.

 

Over the years 4-Play had PA’s from US, Canada and Jamaica perform on our stage as well a top Dj’s from the UK.

 

4-Play site location is adjacent to the main carnival route and proven to be a good location for sponsors and advertising to the wide range audience.

 

4-Play has played at the panorama night for pre Carnival for Notting Hill Carnival.

 

4-PLAY has regular bookings for private functions and promotional events including:

 

• Hosted promotional events across London in various venues, Earls Wine Bar, Focus Night Club, Rhum BAR amongst others

•  Coach trips from East London to various locations

• England, including teaming up with other promoters from all major cities in the UK.

•  hosting excursions to Holland for the Rotterdam Carnival, including party nights in Rotterdam and Amsterdam

• Playing at student/societies party events.

•  Various open live MIC sessions (singers, bands, MC'S and spoken word) for local and national unsigned acts.

•  Hosting Annual Fashion and Industry shows the latest being Urban Fashion Week

 

In addition 4-Play had Residencies in various clubs - Moonlighting Night Club, Chocolate City, Night Moves Night Club and Club Oasis in London.

  

They have also worked on the popular and successful Theatre production of 'Cinderella' and 'The Wiz' and regularly worked with comedians, Jefferson and Whitfield on various projects, including comedy nights and workshops in the local community encouraging local people to get involved.

 

One of their best promotional achievements was the legendary Valentines 'Chocolate Box' event held at the infamous Tyson Street in Hackney. This event (hosted by a line up of top DJs) was quoted 'one of the best Valentine parties ever' and had one of the most original concept flyers of its time.

 

 

4-Play continues to play at various functions across London and entertaining the public as they know how.
